This section attempts to collect references defining the authority of and for a Sheriff's Auxiliary under Missouri law in one place. The Auxiliary shall always look back to these authorities when formulating policy and practice. These references are also expected to be of help for other counties (or municipalities) contemplating the use of law enforcement volunteers.
Congratulations to Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Susan Durbin who has been permanently appointed as the Lawrence County Sheriff's Auxiliary Chief of Staff. Lt. Durbin was appointed to fill the vacancy at our regular meeting on 12 January 2015 contingent on the Sheriff's approval of a recommendation for commission. The commission was approved and signed by the Sheriff on 20 January 2015 and Lt. Durbin was duly sworn in on 29 January.
